Detoured Wall Art

Green city backroad for Pictographs

We are on our way towards Salt Lake City and since the whole day is open and the scenery is scarce, it was time to take some recommendations. So pictographs it is! Through the very simple, boring but beautiful Nine Mile Canyon are rock wall paintings. There was a slight storm threatening again which gave the canyon more depth. I actually enjoyed the scenery much more at that point than anything. Really it’s all about the experience and the roads or…canyons less traveled.

PSPHOTO; Oh, here are the wall paintings we detoured for. They weren’t much so thats why the highlight was the canyon traveled.

Painting the Night

Light Painting at the Park

Welcome back! So we got to have a nice lunch and utilize internet at the Moab Diner and Wake and Bake Cafe. Now we are beat, it’s time for a nap. Which was short lived due to a echoing storm in the canyons we were sleeping at. Worth the rude awakening because we decided to go back to the arches national park to get some more. We had the place to ourselves and got to play with light painting. Here is some of the stuff I played with but if you want to see the real work, go to EathSelfies.com.

PSPHOTO ; I got a few good images for the areas but I would need a week to play in this location… but alas. Onward!

The Sun Rises

Continuing an hour later…
Little did I understand, it was an extremely elevated 1 hour hike. My body is not used to this and I was ill prepared with the limited time given. We only made it 75% but it was no loss. Look at the amazing views during sunrise!

Purchase Prints to Support Our Journey!

PSPHOTO ; Even after the sun was out there was still amazing scenery to take in. Im not sure the Panoramic does the view we had justice. After that, it was time to eat. So enjoy a meal and relax with us. We will return after these messages…

Couldn’t Sleep

Stars were too Bright

One of the other better things in the west is the night sky. Around three o’clock in the morning the stars finally started to twinkle and that is an opportunity not to miss after having rain troubles. We traveled down to Arches National Park to get some iconic shots. I started to read the map and saw that sunrise and the ideal location were almost in perfect connection. The fortunate issue is that every turn we took, another great photo! We stopped every ten feet to get another one.

PSPHOTO ;You wouldn’t believe how bright, open and peaceful the sky was and we had it all to ourselves. As the sun threatened to rise, there was a rush to get to the iconic location start.

I Miss the Desert

More Than The Desert Misses the Rain

Finally getting in to canyons, plateau, sand and Cacti. This is what my early childhood consisted of and it brings back so many memories.
One of the best things in the west is storms. There was a small opportunity to capture the huge storm we were driving into from a distance. Good thing for this small stop at the edge of Utah or I wouldn’t have gotten any photos that evening. It is a bit of a drive in the rain before we have the chance to set up camp and take some astro photos in the desert area. Plus, it rained all night flooding the road to our camp area. Luckily, we were able to find another BLM area for some light car camping.
